The basic principles of the Knights of Columbus are Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism. The Knights of Columbus is second to none in support of our Holy Father, our Bishops and Priests; in working with our fellow man, especially those most in need; and in binding together to preserve traditional values in the face of attacks against the family and innocent human life.
The personal involvement of members of the Knights of Columbus provides opportunities, in charity and fraternity, for service to the Church at the local, diocesan and universal levels, as well as to the community and to those less fortunate in our midst. Active participation in the Knights of Columbus’ spiritual, fraternal, family, social, civic-oriented, athletic and recreational events will serve as a school of leadership and enable a member to develop qualities that enhance his strengths and abilities.
Last year the Knights of Columbus raised and distributed almost $144 million and contributed over 68 million volunteer hours in service to Church, community, youth, and fellow man through the “Surge...with Service” outreach program.
A number of years ago the Knights of Columbus created a $20 million “Knights of Columbus Vicarius Christi” fund. The annual earnings from this fund are conveyed directly to the Holy Father for his personal charities throughout the world. Since its inception this fund has generated more than $41 million for the Pope’s good works, and the corpus of this fund remains intact.
